Hello.
I’m Dr. Paula Gessner and I’m a board certified chiropractor in the state of North Carolina. Most of the patients who come to my office have been referred in by other patients. I emphasize the use of gentle, low force chiropractic and auriculotherapy for pain relief and personalized clinical nutrition programs to reduce inflammation and improve health and well being.
My patients come in with many different health care problems. Their problems have ranged from back pain, obesity, lupus, fibromyalgia and diabetes to chronic fatigue, ADD, irritable bowel, migraine and addiction. I find that addressing diet and lifestyle has a profound positive effect on their health. Personally, I have struggled with weight issues and food addictions all my life so I know how frustrating it can be trying to achieve and maintain an optimal weight.

I am a graduate of the University of Massachusetts, Binghamton University, and New York Chiropractic College. I also have advanced certification in Nutrition Response Testing and I have hundreds of hours of continuing education in nutrition. My newest certification is in addictionology and compulsive disorders (from the American College of Addictionology and Compulsive Disorders).

The road to wellness in my office is “holistic” meaning that we view the body as a whole and use several techniques to achieve results. I practice very gentle chiropractic, either Torque Release Technique or Koren Specific Technique. Depending on the problem, I might add auriculotherapy (ear acupuncture without needles). And, of course, everyone gets a personalized clinical nutritional program. I am very pleased to announce that we now offer blood testing analysis. I am very excited about this new program and I believe this will unlock some of our more difficult cases.

As for my personal life, I was born on the island of Bermuda. I am married and have one son who is a terrific Eagle Scout. We have three dogs, two greyhounds and a standard poodle. In my spare time, I am passionate about promoting greyhound adoption. If I have any time left over, I enjoy reading everything in sight, sailing, scuba diving, and fishing.
